*2020 Show Season CANCELLED*
Dear Friends, Unfortunately, with a great deal of sadness, it has been decided that effective today, we will be cancelling our entire Dresden Saddle Club show season for 2020 due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19. I have been in discussions with the Dresden Agricultural Society as well as our board members and we are bound to follow the rules of the Dresden Agricultural Society, the municipality and the advice of Dr. Colby. As it stands, no activities are permitted to take place at the Dresden grounds and will not be permitted to do so until all restrictions have been lifted. I am sure that many of you are aware that the Dresden Fair scheduled for the last weekend in July 2020 has officially been cancelled. This is disappointing to all those involved and the communities which take part on a whole. However, all of these things that are being done are happening to keep us all healthy and to save the lives of those we love and perhaps even our own. I know that the children will be particularly saddened by this announcement and that breaks my heart as they are already missing out on seeing their friends and classmates and playing in parks in this wonderful weather. All I can say is that this too shall pass. We will get through this and you’ll see your horses and enjoy our shows next summer. Now you’ll have more time to practice and be even better than you were before - which was pretty amazing by the way! All members who have paid their membership fees for 2020 have the option of either carrying that amount into 2021 to cover their membership dues or please contact me to request a refund for your 2020 membership fees. A motion has been made by Jeff Gernaey and seconded by Annette Hoffman
to keep the current board, including all Executive and Directors in place as they stood for the 2020 season to carry into 2021 with 2020 being considered a “write off” due to Covid-19 and not through the fault of any Executive member or Director. I ask at this time that all Executive members and Directors contact me with their vote on this motion as soon as possible. I can be contacted via email at [email protected] While this is very disappointing news today, I remain hopeful that better days are ahead and that at some point our lives will resume and we can enjoy the freedoms and joys as Canadians we always have. God bless you all. Stay safe and always be well!
